This documents the 
.SM PDCMAC 
version of

.IR pinstall .
It is only used if

is not available.

This copies

(which must exist)
to the name
.IR file2 ,
or
the 
.I files
into the directory called
.IR dir ,
preserving the last-modified times
(just like
.BR "cp \-p" ).
