This chapter explains how to install the JavaMail API TCK software.
After installing the software according to the instructions in this chapter, proceed to Chapter 4, "Setup and Configuration," for instructions on configuring your test environment.
You can obtain the JavaMail Reference Implementation (RI) (JavaMail RI) software from Java Licensee Engineering (https://javapartner.oracle.com).
Before you can run the JavaMail TCK tests, you must install and set up the following software components:
Java SE 7
JavaMail 1.6 RI, which is JavaMail RI
JavaMail TCK version 1.6, which includes:
Apache Ant 1.9.6
The JavaMail 1.6 Vendor Implementation (VI)
Install the Java SE 7 software, if it is not already installed.
Download and install the Java SE 7 software from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html.
Refer to the installation instructions that accompany the software for
additional information.
Install the JavaMail TCK 1.6 software.
Copy or download the JavaMail TCK software to your
local system.
You can obtain the JavaMail TCK software from the
Java Licensee Engineering (https://javapartner.oracle.com) Web
site. The JavaMail TCK software is located in the
Web site’s Download Center area.
Use the unzip
command to extract the bundle in the directory of
your choice:
unzip javamailtck-1.6_dd-Mmm-YYYY.zip
This creates the TCK directory. The TCK is the test suite home,
<TS_HOME>
.
Install the JavaMail 1.6 Reference
Implementation.
The Reference Implementation is used to validate your initial
configuration and setup of the JavaMail TCK
1.6 tests, which are explained further in
Chapter 4, "Setup and Configuration."
The JavaMail RI can be obtained from Java Licensee Engineering
(https://javapartner.oracle.com).
Install the JavaMail Vendor Implementation (VI) to be tested.
Follow the installation instructions for the particular VI under test.
